Our mission at Halcyon Dance Studio is to provide our students with professional dance instruction, building lifelong relationships to help them achieve their goals and instill in every individual an appreciation for the emotions that are intrinsic to this art form in a safe and supportive environment.
At Halcyon Dance Studio we strive to teach that all dance is an art form. Never competing with each other, and always lifting each other up. At Halcyon Dance Studio we measure growth and progression through development of self-confidence and performance quality, not what place you may get in a competition or how many trophies you might bring home.
All classes are available for children (age three-senior year) and adults (ages 18 and up). Student levels are Pre A, Pre B, Level 1, 2, 3, 4, Academy 1, Academy 2 and Academy 3. Adult levels start with Beginner 1, Beginner 2, Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2.

Introduction to dance and movement is where we begin to establish the foundations of basic body knowledge, spatial awareness and social interactions. As well as the foundation of our ability to recognize rhythms, patterns and feel the music. Our introduction to dance & movement classes will be offered for our Pre A & Pre B levels.

The classic traditional style of ballet focuses on the academic technique developed through centuries of refinement and growth. Once students have been deemed able to safely dance and perform en-pointe by the faculty at Halcyon Dance Studio, they will have the opportunity to begin pointe work. There will also be opportunities for separate rehearsals for repertoire/variations.

Contemporary dance is a beautiful blend of different genres, techniques and interpretations, including classical ballet, jazz, lyrical and modern dance. There will also be opportunities for separate rehearsals for individual or group pieces.

Recognizing that Breaking & Hip Hop are two different styles, they have some overlap. Breaking is one of the main elements of Hip Hop, featuring more acrobatic and floor movements. Hip Hop is a more round term that encompasses various styles, breaking, locking, popping, and usually performed more upright, showcasing the rhythm and flows, each will be offered and encouraged at Halcyon Dance Studio. There will also be opportunities for separate rehearsals for battles.

Technical jazz classes focus on strengthening one’s core, enhancing one’s flexibility and isolated movements. The classes are high-energy and will help you develop your precision, stronger and more powerful jumps as well as proper alignment for intense turning combinations. Jazz is sharp, fun and fast paced. There will also be opportunities for separate rehearsals for individual or group pieces.

Enhancing your strength and stamina, increasing your flexibility and improving your alignment and posture. Our strength and condition classes will help you prevent injuries, recover faster and have better awareness and control over your body, and not just in the studio. Strength and conditioning classes will be available multiple times a week for one hour classes, starting at Academy 1 and up. You are also welcome and encouraged to take notes, and continue to practice the exercises on your own at home with permission from your instructor.

Tap dance is the incredible art of controlled and precise rhythmic movements with your feet. Wearing special shoes that, upon striking the floor, gives us the unique and beautiful percussion sounds. Tap can be performed with or without music, each providing an equally beautiful experience for both dancer and audience. There will also be opportunities for separate rehearsals for individual or group pieces.
